Studio Sirio Birds Everywhere Day New Zealand Wool Area Rug

5b8eb0347151a

Studio Sirio rugs are handmade in small batches.  Please allow up to 5 weeks for completion and delivery.

Birds Everywhere Day is a whimsical and airy collection very much inspired by every child's favourite storybook, The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint Exupery. London based rug designer, Aurore, finds this to be one of her favourite books because of its depth, softness and beauty. The birds and stars play a critical role in this storybook and is what is featured in this kid's room area rug. The birds and stars in this Birds Everywhere Day rug have a higher pile than the rest of the rug, adding a beautiful texture and a pleasure to stroke during story time.

About the Brand

Founded in 2017, the young Franco-Italian brand offers whimsical, playful, high quality rugs with a "twist". Founder, Aurore Martial, started Studio Sirio because of her love for designing kids rooms. She struggled with sourcing great quality rugs with interesting designs. That began her rug design journey and quest for the perfect material. Her collections are designed with all kid types in mind: Dreamer's collection for the bold and energetic; A Big Big World collection for those infused with curiosity; and Friends in Disguise collection for the sweet and gentle.

About New Zealand Wool

The New Zealand sheep farm industry is held to extremely high standards when it comes to sheep husbandry.  Internationally banned pesticides are prohibited from being used on New Zealand sheep farms.  Voluntary certifications such as the Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) are in place to ensure that sheep are treated responsibly and that their surrounding land are protected and respected.  Often raised on high altitudes in harsh climates, New Zealand sheep farms cause very little impact to the natural landscape and do not compete with food production.

When it comes to New Zealand sheep wool, it is regarded as the purest and whitest wool in the world.  This is an important characteristic when it comes to rug making, especially for rug designs that entail lighter shades of colour.  New Zealand wool offers excellent dyeing characteristics that create long-lasting colours.

Care Instructions for Wool Rugs

  • Vacuum regularly and as needed using suction only (no bristles)
  • Spot clean as needed using a damp cloth with plain water.  Do not use soap or cleaning products as they could damage or fade the rug
  • For spills, absorb immediately with white dry cloth
  • For larger, deeper stains, send the rug to a professional service with experience cleaning fine rugs
  • Rotate rug every 3 months to avoid uneven fading and wear
  • To preserve the life of the rug, we recommend using a rug pad
