Did you know that most synthetic rugs are treated with chemicals that continue to emit toxins into the air we breathe? There is no need to buy synthetic when there are so many beautiful, healthy, natural options out there that are also affordable.
We have the ability to influence and make decisions that can impact environments, communities and people. We feel so fortunate to be a part of initiatives such as GoodWeave that puts children first, targets child labour abolishment and empowers women.
Roo is a child who loves to sing, dance, laugh and play.
At Rugs by Roo, our mission is to find rugs that can withstand the test of time and match Roo's level of play and imagination. We go as far as Europe and Australia to bring home brands that are high quality, natural and environmentally sustainable.
When you see a GoodWeave label on a rug, it means that the rug was produced in an environment where no child, forced or bonded labour was allowed. Child labour and unethical work practices today are at astonishingly high numbers in areas such as India, Nepal and Afghanistan. GoodWeave takes a holistic approach to ending child labour by working with factories to resolve issues, improve transparency and provide education to both children and adults. I have three kids. I also run an online business from home. The assumption is that I am the primary attender to my kids and that my business is secondary. I should always prioritize my kids over work and if I do need to work, then that's more of an exception than the norm. But here's the thing. I LOVE my work!

As I’ve been on my own healthy house journey, I have learned so much and I’ve come to appreciate businesses that are owned and run with our health and our world’s health in mind. Rugs by Roo is just that type of company, which is why I absolutely adore them.
My mom was born in Hong Kong in July of 1945. Post WWII, life was a struggle because most families had lost everything during the war. Everyone was focused on rebuilding and establishing a new way of living with very limited resources. My mom was one out of four children and there was no money for school.
