This product is made from mostly natural fibers that are durable and easy to care for. It contains no harmful adhesives, backings or chemical treatments (e.g. PFAS, phthalates, formaldehyde), making it a healthier choice than many mass-produced rugs. It is dyed using AZO free or natural dyes, offering a safer, more eco-conscious option for your home. To make this product rigid, however, the natural fibers have been blended with recycled PET yarn, which is a synthetic fiber. Synthetic fibers are known for emitting microplastics and is something to be aware of in creating spaces for young children or where one may have special sensitivities. We consider this a good step toward safer, more sustainable living. This product is also made in a verified facility where no unethical manufacturing practises were used.

Lorena Canals started her company to fill the void of modern day living. Her rug designs are stylish and practical. Made from 100% cotton, her rug collection is machine-washable and is the new standard in the world of rug design.

28 years later, Lorena Canals now operates out of offices in Barcelona and New York. Their rugs are manufactured in two of their very own facilities in India where they have full control of the quality and best practices. Their designers work side by side with 120 artisans who take care of every detail in an elaborate handmade process. The brand prides itself on quality in every aspect of production, from the finest raw materials to socially responsible labour practices. Nowadays, Lorena Canals products are found worldwide in more than 2,500 points of sale, making its products available in more than 40 countries. Their offerings have expanded to include Home Decoration serving both children and grown-ups! A nursery funded by the SAKULA PROJECT now has 120 boys and girls attending and continues to grow year after year.

About the Material

Recycled PET

Polyester from recycled PET is made of the highest quality recycled polyester yarn obtained from plastic bottles and other plastic waste collected from the oceans. This sustainable fabric has the same qualities of strength and durability as conventional polyester, mainly intended for manufacturing durable accessories and garments such as bags, covers or aprons, and now used in these baskets' composition.
