28 years later, Lorena Canals now operates out of offices in Barcelona and New York. Their rugs are manufactured in two of their very own facilities in India where they have full control of the quality and best practices. Their designers work side by side with 120 artisans who take care of every detail in an elaborate handmade process. Cleaning & Care Instructions

- When you first receive the rug, unpack the rug from its bag and lay flat. Allow the pile to condition at room temperature for 2 to 3 days, then brush or vacuum as normal to allow the pile to recover
- Wool rugs will shed fibers when new and during use. This is not a defect but a characteristic of the natural wool fiber used
- Trim with scissors any pulled or loose threads to prevent further damage
- To prevent dust and crumbs from settling into the roots of the fiber, we recommend regular vacuuming using low-powered vacuum cleaner with high-pile setting
- Clean spots and absorb liquid spills immediately with a clean, absorbent cloth. Avoid scrubbing
- Do not use chemicals as they could damage or fade the colours of your rug
- When rug is in need of a wash, check the label sewn onto the rug for recommended washing machine capacity for each rug
- For this size, we recommend a minimum capacity of 9 kg
- Wash separately at 30 degrees using a gentle cycle for a maximum of 30 minutes. A neutral detergent can be used during the wash
- Make sure to use a low spin cycle if the rug has braids or fringes
- Do not use bleach or softener
- Do not leave the wet rug in the washer as colours may bleed and transfer
- Tumble dry at low temperature
- Do not dry clean
- Avoid exposure to direct sunlight as it may result in colour fading
- Never store the rug in an airtight plastic bag. Use the cotton bag that is included for storing
- We recommend the use of the anti-slip underlay (included) to keep the rug in place

Everything I was looking for in a rug

I love my rug from Rugs by Roo! It is washable wool and absolutely perfect in my sons nursery. The shopping process was very easy as was the shipping. I love how transparent they are about the rugs, materials and entire process. I was so happy with my rug (zero smell as promised since it was all natural materials) and the experience I went back and bought a few poofs for around his room. Highly recommend!

Love my gorgeous and non-toxic rugs!

We were looking for non toxic rugs for our baby to safely and comfortably crawl around on. We wanted to create a healthy indoor air environment with safe furniture and came across these selections from Rugs by Roo. As a first time rug buyer, I loved that each rug on the site has an explanation on the safety of materials and how to care for it. We ended up purchasing the fab habitat Kilimanjaro runner and the Lorena Canals Almond Valley Wool Washable Area Rug. They are both beautiful for different reasons. I’m so impressed with the quality and how stunning these are in person. The area rug is especially lovely and perfectly sized for our NYC apt. It’s soft, and is just stunning. It’s folds up neatly and comes with a nice storage bag, perfect for our next move. This piece really transforms a space. I’ve already gotten compliments on video phone calls and can’t wait for people to see them in person. It’s odd to use this description but the Lorena Canals rug is simultaneously light-weight, yet, has some weight to it. The wool is very soft and feels great to step on. I’m sure this would look great on any floor but although it’s subtle, the brown undertone really pulls everything together and compliments my light-wood flooring.

After a shipping mixup, customer service was really responsive and even personally called to explain the situation, and then followed up to make sure everything had been delivered to my satisfaction.

I’m so happy to have found affordable, comfortable, and most importantly, non-toxic rugs for my little one to play on. I’m very happy with my purchases.
